What is a prefilled pod kit?

How prefilled pod kits work, what is inside a pod, and how they differ from refillable kits.

A prefilled pod kit is a reusable vaping device made of two parts: a rechargeable battery section and a sealed pod that already contains e-liquid.

The two parts

The battery is charged over USB and used again and again. The pod contains the e-liquid and the coil that heats it. When the e-liquid in the pod is finished, the pod is removed and replaced with a new one; the battery is kept.

Pod capacity and strength

Pod capacity is measured in millilitres, and nicotine strength is printed in milligrams per millilitre (mg/ml). In the UK, prefilled pods and e-liquid bottles containing nicotine are limited to a maximum strength of 20mg/ml. Always check the pod capacity and strength on the product page before buying, because pods are not interchangeable between all devices.

Prefilled versus refillable

A prefilled pod is sealed and disposed of once empty. A refillable pod is filled by the user from a bottle of e-liquid, and its coil is replaced periodically. Prefilled pods involve less handling of liquid; refillable pods give a wider choice of flavours and strengths.

Nicotine is an addictive substance. These products are for adult smokers and vapers aged 18 or over only.

Questions

Can I use any pod with any device?
No. Pods are designed for a specific device or range. Check the compatibility information listed on the product page or on the manufacturer packaging.
How do I know when a pod is finished?
The e-liquid level in the pod window drops and the flavour changes noticeably. At that point the pod should be replaced.
