E-liquid is mostly made of two carrier liquids: vegetable glycerine (VG) and propylene glycol (PG). A 50/50 e-liquid contains equal parts of each.
What the numbers mean
VG is the thicker of the two and produces more visible vapour. PG is thinner and carries flavour and the throat sensation. A 70/30 liquid (70% VG) is thicker than a 50/50 liquid.
Which devices it suits
Thinner 50/50 liquids flow more easily into the small wicking openings used in pod kits and mouth-to-lung coils, which is why most pod kit e-liquids are 50/50. High-VG liquids are usually made for higher-power sub-ohm tanks with larger wicking openings.
Always check your device or coil documentation for the VG/PG range the manufacturer recommends. Nicotine is an addictive substance; these products are for adults aged 18 or over.
Questions
- Can I put high-VG liquid in a pod kit?
- A thicker liquid may not wick quickly enough in a small pod coil. Follow the manufacturer guidance for your device.
- Where is the VG/PG ratio shown?
- It is printed on the bottle and, where the manufacturer supplies it, listed in the specifications on our product pages.
