Pod kits versus disposable vapes

How reusable pod kits differ from single-use disposables, including the UK ban on single-use vapes.

Published 17 Sept 2026Last reviewed 17 Sept 2026

Single-use disposable vapes were banned from sale in the UK on 1 June 2025. Vape Hero only sells reusable devices.

What makes a device reusable

A reusable device has a rechargeable battery and a pod or coil that can be replaced or refilled. A single-use device is thrown away complete once the battery or liquid runs out.

Practical differences

  • Cost over time. With a reusable kit you buy the device once and then buy pods, coils or e-liquid.
  • Choice. Refillable kits can be used with a wide range of e-liquid strengths and flavours.
  • Waste. Replacing a pod or coil discards far less material than discarding a whole device.

What to check before buying a pod kit

Battery capacity in mAh, pod capacity in ml, whether the pods are prefilled or refillable, which replacement pods or coils the device takes, and the nicotine strengths available. Every one of these is listed on our product pages where the manufacturer supplies it.

Nicotine is an addictive substance. These products are for adults aged 18 or over.
