Vaping products should not go in household waste or in kerbside recycling. Devices contain a lithium-ion battery and electronics.

Devices Take the device to a shop or council collection point that accepts waste electrical items or batteries. Do not open a device to remove a built-in battery.

Pods and coils Empty pods and used coils contain metal and plastic and may hold liquid residue. Take them to a collection point that accepts vape consumables where one is available locally, rather than putting them in kerbside recycling.

Empty e-liquid bottles Rinse the bottle, then follow your council's guidance for the plastic type. Keep the cap on if your council asks for caps to be retained.

Why batteries matter Damaged lithium-ion cells can overheat in waste and recycling vehicles. Separate collection exists to keep them out of general waste.

Local arrangements vary, so check your council's website for current collection points.
